Well to refresh your memory he said "That little monkey gets loose, doesn't he?"
That was 5 Sept 1983. He decided to leave MNF before the 1984 season started, so it wasn't his last broadcast.

I seem to recall Howard issuing an apology, and Dandy Don Meredith replied "That's OK Howard. We still love you, you big ape." That might have been the next week though.
Dandy Don was hilarious in his own right.
