I think between myself and my son we probably killed 75 whitetails with ballistic tips. Always massive trauma almost always an exit and none ran very far usually drt or within 30-40 yds. I will say the older ones before nosler beefed them up were usually drt but not as many exits. The newer ones exit 99% still massive trauma. The sst is a little more likely to shed it's core. But massive trauma and they are cheaper and more readily available.

Literally anything will work, even the varmint bullets if you choose your shots. Personally I'd just get a couple boxes of core lokt and call it a day.

Had a look at my notes, the ex-wife took a Fallow deer at 75 metres with Barnes 100g TTSX and it was the best outcome for meat loss on any bullets we used. The Scenar 123g is hard and destroyed lots of meat, so maybe not the best. The other bullet we liked is the 130g Accubond. Exits were not large.

I'll maybe clarify I am hoping to find a bullet that will expand, not explode with a heart/lung shot from 10 feet to 120 yards.

What bullet do you use now, and do you eat the heart/lung?

At those distances and on whitetail most things work well.
SST, any Berger, Nosler BT, Remington Core Loks. I've killed a pile of critters with all of those.

At those ranges I would just go for the 129 Hornady interlock. I have a 24 inch tube and they just plain work. 2 holes,golf ball sized exit ,most drop in their tracks if they run spray paint blood trail.

2nd choice Nosler partition,spendy but pass throughs at any angle.

Prior to the mono's…..my answer would have been the Nosler Partition! Now, my answer would be a Barnes TTSX or LRX, or one of the Hammer Bullets! memtb
