I am going to start reloading my .338 RUM. I purchased the new 300 grain .338 accubonds, brass, and H1000 powder. I just can't find primers. Which primers do you guys suggest for this caliber? I will be running what nosler suggests and that is 84 grains of H1000.

Being that it is a magnum cartridge, I would go with a magnum primer. Such as the Federal 215 or Federal Gold Medal Match 215M primers.

I ordered them several months ago from Midway. It has been about a year. I am just now trying to get everything else, so I can start reloading.

another vote for fed match mags. Ive had better luck with that primer then any other in big cases.

That's contradictory... Has it been a several months, or about a year? Several months would be less than 5. About a year, would be 8+.

8+ months for primers seems a long time to wait.....Your local stores don't have any large rifle magnum primers? Man, I couldn't wait that long. That's rediculous. Just like Midway says ordering powder or primers you have to pay shipping, hazmat, AND wait 16 weeks before it ships! ***? You want me to wait 4 months for something to ship, that usually takes 2-3 days to get to my house from Midway. And something I can go to my local store and pick up when it's in stock, and drive right home and start reloading...

That's crazy.

I was talking about the accubonds is what I waited so long for. As for primers, no my local stores don't have any. All the reloading supplies and ammo have been wiped out over he past few months. I guess since everybody started buying all the ARs.

Yeah, they weren't planning on banning bolt guns, powder, and primers, but everyone sure decided to thoroughly rape the shelves. My local store turned into mad house for a while there. I have a buddy who works there, who used to sneak things into an undercover box hidden in the back, when the boss wasn't looking, if he knew that it was something I needed, and would call me and tell me that he had some supplies for me, so I'd go up there and pay for the stuff, and people would just be standing around like, "Whaaa? How??? Where did that come from???" I'd just start laughing, finish paying, and say, "Yall have a good one......" as I walked out the door. :D

I don't shoot the 338 Rum but do the 7,300, and 375. I try the 215M first. If it doesn't seem to jive with that I go to the Rem 91/2M. I've had very good luck with the 91/2M. Worth a try.

You might want to plan on adding a bit more powder than what nosler recommends. Most guys are running between 88 and 91 grs of H-1000 with the 300 gr pills. I am shooting 90 grs with 300 gr Bergers and I am using CCI 250's from the last shortage when federal primers were non existant.
