Im having my gun built whats barrel whould be a good choice Mike Rock, Schneider, or Broughton rifle barrels. what would be a good lenght for a 338lapua. i was thinking 30 inches maybe 32. looking to shoot 300 grains bullets what twist and groove . has anyone try or is using the Broughton 5c 10 canted land barrels for the 338.

I have been doing a lot of research lately on .338 barrels for my next project and have to say that I have been reeled in by the Rock 5r barrels. Faster velos from slightly undersized bore dimensions and less deformation to the bullet because of the offset 5 groove system are very interesting things to consider.

30" barrel will be fine for the standard lapua although if you go 32" then you have some extra barrel to play with when the time comes to set the barrel back a thread or two.

The 300 grain MK's only need a 10 twist.
