Wanting a creedmoor

Hey all, been hunting coyotes and whitetails with .223 and .243. Been using federal fusions which work quite well. Looking to stretch out range a bit and figured a creedmoor would be the ticket. I do a lot of stalking so I don't want a really heavy rifle. Thinking on browning western hunter or hell's speed. Like bergara hmr but looks like it may be a little on the heavier side. Recommendations welcome, purchase won't be for a while.

Savage offers one, the 16/116 LIGHTWEIGHT HUNTER. It weighs 5.65 pounds.

What about the Thompson Center Venture. I believe they now are made in 6.5

I like my Savage 11 LRH. I have since put it in different stock, but in its original configuration it was a tack driver.
I don't remember the weight but it wasn't a heavy rifle.

I actually looked pretty close at TC when I was itching for a 280. Read about a lot of QC issues and recalls that turned me off. I have never been a savage fan, both rifles I currently own are Ruger's and shoot well. Tikkas is kind of same as savage, never held one I like the feel of.

Yes ,TC seems to have a lot of quality issues,especially since they're owned by Smith! I have a Venture that had the safety recall, but no other issues!

How do you identify pre Smith builds, I remember nothing but good reviews from them before.

I have a Venture 30-06. It was a early make and wasn't part of the recall. It's shoots sub Moa I highly recommend the TC. I just can't get the trigger below 3 pounds and all of my Savages are 6oz. to two pounds. So when I get behind the TC it feels like a 10 pound trigger.

I think the lightest trigger I've had is around 3# and feels like almost nothing to me. Can't hardly imagine something lighter than that.

A lot of good reviews out there on the Christeansen Arms Ridgeline. 6.5 pounds.

Ridgeline looks super nice, it's looking like about 2k though, my budget will likely be 1kish or less favoring less so I can get better glass mounted

I'm starting to favor the 280 over the 6.5 but the rifle pickings are a lot slimmer. Win m70 featherweight, various x bolts, or TC venture. 150 eld-x or fusion look like pretty solid factory offerings, and if I get into reloading 280 should have enough case for 162 or 175 eld-x though I'm not sure if the twist rate would work out.

Try to get the .280 in a 9 twist or maybe a 9.5.
The TC only offers it in 10 twist I believe. The 7-08 TC Venture is a 9 twist, which when running a 162 in a 7-08 9 twist, it offers some impressive ballistics.
