Video - How to ensure your scope's parallax is always set correctly for maximum accuracy

Great video, was actually reading up on parallax myself. Just got new/old NF ATACR. Great price, went ahead, and purchased it.

This really works well. I was surprised how far off from the marking on the scope parallax adjustment my scope was. I also noticed that you can't rely on focus either when i did this on one of my scopes the target was slightly out of focus but the parallax was right on.

Optics
Why can't scope manufactures develop a precise method for these high end scopes that results in a precisely marked turret?

Optics are very sensitive by nature and any slight error in positioning or the lens grind its self can make the turret in accurate by some margin. In fact, some manufactures assume that a person should be able to adjust without any marks, so they don't mark the turret. The marks are for those that don't know how and the factory marks get them close.

The Video like other post describes the Importance and proper way to set the Parallax for best results and accuracy. some scopes combine range focus and Parallax so a person only has to focus the scope and resolve the parallax issue. (It is easier to see the focus , and adjust for best image.

If I paid $2k plus for a scope I'd certainly want the parallax turret correctly marked.

Perhaps they should hire another flunky to do just that... ;)

I understand the nuances of parallax at least enough to set mine correctly.

I just kinda shake my head because we can put a man on the moon but can't get correctly marked parallax turrets.

The parallax markings on the turret will vary depending on how you have the eyepiece adjusted. Everyone adjusts the eyepiece to their own vision, thus the yardage on the parallax would be different. Throw in the variable power and now you have 3 factors affecting the parallax. There's reasons it's not marked, because it can vary.
