Two Hunters missing

As far as safety goes, if you cannot find cover, is don't stand under trees, and minimize you contact to the ground. The best way to do this is to squat as close as possible to the ground (do not lay down). While squatted, Keep your feet together as close as possible and get on your tippy toes.
Dr. says I'm going to die then LOL!

I've been close a couple of times. Storm kicked up while I was driving through town, and I had the outside lane, and the strike was between me and the sidewalk. There is a bus stop there, storm came out of almost nowhere, if someone had been there, there would have been little to no warning.

Also had a funnel cloud touch down my head. Filled my shoes, and pockets with sand. Also no warning, hanging out waiting for daughters softball to start.

Can't say I wasn't warned LOL!

I was a Lineman. When you have downed power lines and it's raining you have your rubber boots and thick rubber gloves. You test the gloves before use each time and carry spares. If there is a pin hole in the gloves you will get nailed. I worked with a guy back in the 70's. He put both hands on power and it blew a hole out his chest.
I was up on a pole in San Diego. We were pulling in cable a storm blew in. It got dark and we were trying to finnish.
Wind started howling and raining hard.
I heard a loud crack and a big tree branch broke about 80 yards from me. It fell on power lines and I heard it cross. Loud buzzing for a bout 3 seconds then BOOM ! The transformer blew up on next span from me. Heck of a flash in the dark. You know what we were doing next day.
Do you know Tom Fisher? He was a lineman for years and he wrote half the book on power transmission and safety. He said a buddy got nailed by lightning when it hit the line miles away.

I think I've heard the name. Haven't read the book. Traveling miles I can't imagine.

Life is brutal in cleansing the gene pool.....wilderness a co-conspirator. Hope outcome is good.

Had a friend who was an electrician. Was working on a commercial building in White Plains NY. He tried to put the wrong cover on a fuse box panel (was too small). It sent him off the ladder and across the room. He survived, but was never 100% after that, and passed away a few years later.

As one of my other friends said: I don't like working with anything that I can't see that can kill you!
