Tikka T3 223 Rifle - Missing Bolt

street price can be different, i paid $700 for mine and sold 22-250 for 800.
point is: varmint is more expensive

Brand new rifle would cost $600, new bolts are $350+ ish and then need to set headspace-- tikka wont sell you a bolt without sending the rifle to them to headspace it correctly

As I said, Ive found several like new t3x with missing bolt for $150, not worth buying a bolt in my eyes-- used t3's can sell for $400 if you find the right place.
Any 223 Tikka bolt will fit the rifle. I have a T3 Varmint and a T3 Lite. The bolts interchange and they headspace the same on go/no-go gauges.

I'm sorry for your loss but WRT the rifle and bolt situation, if you like the rifle enough that you'd want to keep it for sentimental reasons or use it to hunt varmints yourself, then sending it off to the mfr certainly is one option as long as you're willing to absorb the costs involved. If keeping and shooting it, the memories evoked while out shooting, be it at the range or in the field, could both be well worth the cost, IMHO.
I'm kinda in the same boat with a rifle my late Dad (RIP, Dad) horse-traded with me about 35 or so years ago.
The original stock started cracking at the wrist on top plus a little in the left side. Why, I haven't a clue, but instead of buying just any hunk of wood to drop the barreled action in, I want to find an exact replica of the original stock as it came from Winchester. Great figure with black rosewood forearm cap, etc.
It was my primary hunting rifle for many years, having taken elk, mule deer and so on. With my hand loads it was quite the accurate deliverer, too, so I'd like to put it back in service, even if I can no longer hunt over Hill and Dale and it is relegated to shooting from the bench. (Sigh)
My point being, IF the rifle holds some intrinsic value to YOU and as long as the cost of buying a replacement bolt isn't stupid crazy expensive, it might be well worth it. To YOU.
Besides, it would make a nice heirloom to pass along to your kid(s) one day should you choose to do so.
Regardless, good luck in your quest.

The only place that I have been able to consistently find Tikka bolts is at Midwest Gunworks. Here's the link to the .223 bolt assembly - https://www.midwestgunworks.com/page/mgwi/prod/s1411306
Currently shows as sold out, but you may want to call them and see if/when they will get another shipment in.

So in the link Raz posted the bolt references 9.6. The barrel on my rifle is stamped 8". Do those two numbers corollate at all? Or are they two different measurements?

Lost bolts from T3's isn't unusual - even here in New Zealand - where Tikka's are treated with love and care, due to the high initial purchase cost (about $800-$1000 US), depending on model.
Mostly lost on hunting trips or during unplanned/rushed address changes (nope - they ain't hiding from our PM's blue shirt thugs - yet).
An occasional bolt may be found by another hunter, which is advertised to other hunters looking for a Tikka bolt.
Interesting that bolts MAY be interchangeable, but every one here ALWAYS gets headspace checked, even if they function correctly (dry load/unload), and appear to close/open on factory ammo normally.

Well I haven't been able to find any used ones online. And the one link I do have for a new one is out if stock (on the waiting list). The more I read about the Tikka's the more I'm impressed. The rifle doesn't hold any sentimental value, for me but it's a darn good rifle. The only negative thing I can find about them is they kick pretty hard compared to other like-caliber rifles because they're so light.

The other bolt was found in one of the gun safes. I've got all the safes and equipment in my garage. There were several duffle bags filled rather hastily but I'm pretty sure there aren't any bolts in them as I recently went through them all to sort out the ammo situation. I'll check again though. Keep in mind this all happened over a year ago. The house is long sold along with the majority of dad's belongings. Is was a bad situation with his live in girlfriend and a sketchy trust but I won't get into that. The bolt is probably just gone which I had already resigned myself too.

The question is how do I get a replacement and is it worth going through the time/effort/money since I plan on selling it anyway?

Might want to check the inside of the safe again, I've lost 1911 magazines and stuff like that in mine; and, it's not that big. There's some pretty dark corners in a safe and you're looking for a black bolt.

install limbsaver, it works well

You guys got me doubting myself enough to check all three gun safes again. Pulled everything out and no-joy. Either it got left behind or he never had it. I have a bag full of gun receipts. I could look through them to see if anything is labeled Tikka. The price would give me an idea of whether or not he bought it with a bolt. Not that it helps me now.

Sorry to read about the loss of your father. From what I have seen from your postings, your father really liked his guns. It would not seem that he simply had a gun laying around without a bolt. Just curious if he had a friend who might steer you in the right direction as to the location of the bolt; a shooting bag, parts cleaner, something along those lines. Glad to read that you gave the safes a second go, there's always a chance someone could miss something in there. hunter67wa provided you with a great lead if you are inclined to pick up another bolt for the Tikka.
