thread size on scope base

I'n looking for the torque value on a leopold ring base and screw size of the windage screw. thanks.................mister c.

I torque the ring screws to 15 to 20 inch pounds,and the base screws to 25 to 35 inch pounds. The windage screws on the rear base are 3/16 x 32 tpi.

Something to remember, and one of several reasons I don't like to use Loctite. When it's still wet, it can act as a thread lubricant and give a false torque reading. 20 in/lbs lubricated will stretch the screws more than 20 in/lbs unlubricated. No proof, just my opinion.

I use the same torque range as Rifle 57. Sounds like a lot on a 6-48 screw, but 20 in/lbs actually feels a little light when you do it. 35 in/lbs feels pretty good.

Concerning torque values of fasteners, if the torque value does not state wet or dry, it don't matter. Use wicking grade loctite, You apply after torquing the fastener, not prior to.

I generally use a 35 inlb value for ring and base screws, applying that value with a Snap-On dial type inch pound torque wrench.... Clicker and beam wrenches can be very inaccurate.
