[Excavator]

i am thinking about drilling a hole in the corner of my Legacy shooting table. Sticking a 1/4-20 bolt through it. With a nut on the top. Leaving about 1/2-1" of threads exposed. To screw my lab radar to. Is this a bad idea? Thoughts?

Well it's great until you drag your rifle or arm across it!
I would tack the bolt to a small C-Clamp and put it on and off!

Maybe instead, take the bolt and cut the head off of it and leave it in the unit so you just drop it into the hole in your bench.

You could use a steel threaded insert. It would be flush.

id try to think no tools required & not loosing fasteners in the dirt

I have done something similar for other reasons......but I can't explain it very well. I think this sketch should though. Basically the nut keeps the thumb bolt from falling out and getting lost, but the table top remains flat when nothing's attached. Just another way to skin the cat, I guess.
