Took her out today for some drop chart testing. Had to do some tweaking with the BC over the velocity spectrum but got things pretty close. Dropping off a bit more then I expected at extended range but that is likely because it was pretty high humidity and 14 degrees!!!
Once I got the drop chart tweaked a bit I took three shots each at 553, 841, 1257 and 1497 yards. All but one shot at 1497 yards easily landed well within 1/2 moa of my point of aim.
Hope to get her out when the temps warm up a bit to around 40 this weekend and just see what difference that makes, pretty sure it will not be 14 degrees in Oklahoma when that old big whitetail walks out.
Ramshot says their powders are as stable as any extreme stick powder on the market when it comes to temp changes, we will see if that is true this weekend hopefully if the wind stays calmed down a bit. I think I am close enough now that I can start dialing in for wind. Was just a slight breeze today and drift numbers were hitting right where Exbal predicted they would be so I think I can zero that turret for the time being.
Getting close and she is shooting very well. Its time now to get off the bench and get my belly in the dirt for some real field range testing and practice sessions to get ready. Three weeks to get her fine tuned and likely 80% of that weather will keep me off the range this time of year. Plus load of customer work that needs to get worked on and shipped. Lots to do, fun times though!!!
This new Raptor LRSS is fofilling my dreams of what I wanted this concept to turn out like. Once I get the preferred stock on it, I think I will be 100% satisfied and for those that know me, thats a pretty tall order!!! Time generally finds something to improve on or try differently.
It was to cold for steel today, maybe this weekend I will get the plates out and ring some steel and get some pics. When its breezy and 14 degees, just working the palm to get the drop numbers gets pretty old quick!!!
