The .257 -WHICH CARTRIDGE???

I'm very happy with my 25 creedmoor. Also had a 25-06 and 25-284 fast twist, no longer shooting them. The creedmoor does everything I need it to; holds enough velocity for expansion way out there. And it does it with less recoil and muzzle blast. Easy to load/tune and find components.
Are you shooting bullets up to 133 gr in the 25 Creed? I remember seeing the 25-08 (25 creed copied it) but only shooting around 100 gr. If shooting 133s what velocity are you getting?

Here would be my catridges I would consider:
For lighter recoil/moderate ranges to maybe 800/1000 (expect 2850-3000fps)
25x47L
25CM (I have two)
.250 AI (had one for years BEFORE the heavies were dreamt up)

For a strictly hunting rifle pushing 3100-3300+
.25-.284 Norma (I have a couple buddies with these)
25SST (I have one and so do a couple buddies)
25SAUM (I have a buddy with one)
25 Max (I have a buddy with one)
.25-06AI (had one for 8+ years, but again, before rhe heavies)

I'm shooting the 135s. 2940fps with n555. I was able to get an extra 100 fps over h4350. I think my chamber is a little on the tight side couldn't get as much h4350 as most guys do without pressure. The 135s have been good to me somewhere close to 10 animals now.

Here's my next build.
Defiance rukus medium length
22 in carbon barrel not sure on manufacture yet
7 twist
Foundation stock
Trigger tech trigger
Chambered in 25sst.

My first thought due to all my years hunting with it would be the .257 Weatherby Mag... but, with the request for a "light mountain rifle" in a SA well I'd pick the .257 Roberts AI I've used a .257 Robert in the mountains more than a few times and it punches way above its weight class on Deer, later in its life I re-chambered it for the AI
I was amazed at the performance, accuracy, and case life of the cartridge as an AI. Good luck, Cheers.

Kimber Montana in 25 creed 7twist with a 24" barrel and I was shooting 131 blackjacks at 2915 with reloaded 26 took a ram at 400 yds one shot just fine weighs less than 8 pounds complete with a 27 ounce scope
