The .257 -WHICH CARTRIDGE???

I'm very happy with my 25 creedmoor. Also had a 25-06 and 25-284 fast twist, no longer shooting them. The creedmoor does everything I need it to; holds enough velocity for expansion way out there. And it does it with less recoil and muzzle blast. Easy to load/tune and find components.
What powder and bullet weight did you use with your 25-284?

I was real surprised to get great accuracy from my 25-284 with a 24" barrel and 133 Berger's at over 3200 fps with zero pressure signs. I'll admit 3170 gave me the place I liked the best but .3s at over 3200 with a 24" barrel is incredible IMO.

Thank you sir.
If you are comfortable sharing the information, what was your load?
You could message the info as well.
I am not going to jump to your load when I start 😇
No I have zero issues sharing with all. Just recommend starting lower. Mine isn't hot really either. No bolt lift issues, no case marks or damage. Fairly warm I'd say. My freebore is liberal keeping pressure down a bit. I know it reduces barrel life but there cheap enough. I really only care to run the 131-135s around 3000-3100 anyway. I think the best accuracy will be around 3K in the end. 54.3-54.7 grains got me decent groups at around 3200. Roughly .010 off. Last two shots on my Chrono.

This was around 2950 and my best groups. 3 shots. Felt it was a little slow so went to 54.0 grains and still had good groups but opened up to around .3. At 3200 they were around .5". I think with some seating changes and fine tuning powder charges, I can wind up with .25" and around 3050-3100.

135gr Berger's. H1000, RL23, n566 and RL26 all seemed to work. H1000 was stupid accurate and cleaner burning for me. It would probably work with any of the slow burning magnum powders.

Nix the short action, planned failure with those long VLD Bullets. I have been down the road of a 25/284 and 6/284 on two different Rem 700 short actions, NEVER NEVER again!

For the easy button, a std 25/06 with R#26 should impress all, and go AI for impressing. Lapua 30/06 brass is floating around for the Win. AI brass made from Winchester 270 brass is very good.

If you want more, then go 257 Weatherby, custom reamer with freebore to match the 133. I have a reamer on file with PTG for just necking down Winchester brand of 264 WM & 7 Rem mag brass to the 257 Weatherby with a .060 shorter neck.

Exotic stuff in this day and age, with shortages of everything including long waits and impossible to get in many component choices, demands some level-headed thinking/planning.
