Thanks to you fellows who answered my inquiry relating to field rests.
All are solid answers that work for each of you-I got it, I'll experiment and find what works for me: shooting from different angles, of course cold barrel shots, back pack & natural rests that present opportunities in the field; I am a minimalist.
FYI, I just watched a LR hunter on TV who was hunting a ram that was down slope in a canyon; the hunter was packing a shooting stick, along with a bi-pod mounted on his rifle and he placed his pack on a rock, used it, and made a nice low angle shot (30 degrees maybe). Yes he was prepared. lightbulb
