Wondering if anyone has played with Staball HD enough to verify its consistency and temperature stability. Debating on breaking into an 8lber for my 30 nosler and a few other magnum I have lying around.

I tried it in 7prc and 6.5 saum.

H1000 and n565 were both better in every way

I am on my last 7 or 8 lbs of h1k and retumbo, so I figured I'd ask. Was there a consistency issue?

I like the Staball HD - less expensive than H1000 & Retumbo, easy availability
, measures better (ball powder) and good enough for my casual use.

I use it in my 6.5-06.


5 shot group, the bottom hole was 1st shot, clean bore, the other 4 went into a nice .4 group. Target dot is .75 inches.



This string used the Federal 215 Match Primer (king of all LR Primers). Extreme spreads were about 1/2 of those using CCI 34's. Pressures appear to be moderate, I will probably boost charge to 58.0 - fills case nicely, no packing with inexpensive 140 Barnes Match Burner.

Accuracy, speed, es was worse

My rifle has a 8 twist barrel & 1X fired Norma .270 brass (about $50 per 100), neck turned to .286 (easy slip fit) and trimmed to 06 length.
