Had to go break in the new gun on a doe. I am not quite finished with the gun yet, but it is finished enough to shoot. I will post pics when I get home.
338WSM 15.5" 9 twist mike rock barrel on a 700 short action. Forward grip design topped with a 4-14 IOR tactical. 63gr of N165 behined the legendary 300SMK MV 2100fps, I think I can go hotter but have not had much time to do load development.
Shot was 210yards. The shot entered low on front shoulder hitting leg bones on each side and taking multiple ribs with it, as far as I could tell the heart was dissenegrated. Exit hole was slightly larger than entrance at 2-3inches. I was amazed at the ammount of noise made by the impact of the shot. I had my ear plugs in and the impact was almost as loud as the shot.
Anyway I am happy.
