Depends what you are after! If that was on my annual MN deer hunt, both are shooters. Guided hunt? Pass.

Deer #1 Nice deer, maybe 3.5 to 4.5 years old. I would think about taking him.
Deer#2 okay deer, maybe 2.5 to 3.5 years old. I would watch him.
Now there was a time in my hunting that I didn't look at antlers, I filled my freezer with 3 to 6 deer a year. I didn't have time to be picky.

I've hunted Illinois for a few decades and those would be passed since I know what is there.
They both look delicious.

I just returned from a NC whitetail hunt. A trophy animal was any buck with 8 points or more and an inside spread that exceeded 14". No one would have passed up your #1 buck. LOL

My dad told me when I first went whitetail hunting, that no matter what, look at the deer, and don't pull the trigger until you convince yourself that it's a good one to eat.
If there were a lot of does in the area, I'd let them both walk.

I'd be out of ammo by now.
Where I hunt (Texas) I would have to pass on both of those bucks. It's not that we have an abundance of larger deer, it's that the land owner and his family would be given first chance at bucks that size. They rarely miss.

It all depends on the property & goals in mind, neighbors a bit too. Of course we all love a nice rack, but I like to leave a lot up to individual hunters.
Case in point, we have a somewhat newer hunter with us this year, 40+ but only shot one deer years ago. I'd like to see him get a deer this year, don't really care if it's a 6 pointer, anchored. This is a fairly modest QDM property in IL.

Either of those seen in Alabama, unless its on very controlled property, are dead where they stand!
What did you do?
Just watching them chase does. Waiting to see what gun season pushes onto the property Nov 21st
