Well, this is the #1 on the list, I'm thinking the first one is son/brother/nephew.. my wife has yet to kill something "mountable" so I'd really like her to claim either of them, provided that she puts in the woods time. There are a few other bucks worth looking at but one of my pass bucks last year and hopeful this year ended up on the side of the road middle of the season last year. Road deaths are the primary factor around my hunting property, as seen in below picture.

Only hunting companions that I have are my wife, B-I-L (doesn't really hunt.. couple does a year), and hopefully my 6yo if he can be still and quiet (Lord, help my patience with him during deer season..) we have a bit over 300 acres of semi-isolated free range QDM (for the past 5 years, starting to see some realized improvements in herd standing)

Educate me, what is QDM?

I'd say let him go another year. Even if he gets it from the neighbors or nature, he still may be able to do his thing for future generations. Whenever I've had to ask myself this question in the heat of the moment because a deer I hadn't seen before shows up, if I end up pulling the trigger, I usually get mad at myself for not letting him go another year once I walk up on him down on the ground. I've done it more than once, and I tell myself I'll never pull the trigger if I have to ask in the future. Still, though, it's a tough decision to make each season. Good on you for doing the research now to be prepared for fall...I wish things were more cut and dry at the onset for sure!
