Shoot 6.5x55 from a 6.5 creedmoor rifle...

I've been disappointed in a lot of threads here before, but this one takes the cake. The guy asked a serious (to him) question as his first post and here come all the bada$$ veterans with their all knowing witty remarks. Hope your egos have been exercised enough. AND THE THREAD IS OVER A YEAR OLD!!
The thread by the OP was regurgitated in POST39 by another member so the age of the thread has no bearing. Post# 39 was what appeared to be a serious question and a continuation of the thread. Part of the problem you're referring to is that most people DON'T read the entire thread and only comment on the first few posts.

Feenix, you must have very twisted mind if you think that I was implying that. Re read my post and you will see that I'm not talking about any 6.5 and that my post was following the ideas of the precedent posts mentioning that the OP was probably a beginner that did not know the subject and that he needed help. In this case reading cartridges of the world.

Regarding the black tip bullet on the picture, it is more likely a Winchester Deer season cartridge in 6.5 creedmoor.
Uh-oh……and this is where the fight started!!!! And…..it has been that FEENIX may be accused of some things; however, never a twisted mind!!! From what I've read so far the OP (1) is asking a legitimate question based upon his/her limited experience (2) from his/her profile he/she are new to the shooting/reloading scene (3) there's a real safety issue at present (4) some of the replies to this post are derogatory and something that's rarely experienced on this forum. I'm glad the OP asked the question, and I'm glad to read that members have taken his/her question seriously. And….lastly the forum is "supposed" to be, in my opinion, to be a forum where readers can acquire knowledge and information about the shooting/reloading sports and "not" one where we get attacked and insulted!!

Yeah, it's the wrong cartridge for the 6.5 creed. The bullet diameter and case head (primer end) are the only thing they have in common. Just taking a quick glance at the saamj drawings I don't think youd even be able to close the bolt on a x55 in the Creedmoor.

Don't try it.
Case head is larger, not the same.

Mike you do know that the 22 mag is .224 and the lr is is .221. So realy you should not shoot 22 mag ammo in a 22 lr barrel. Maybe becacause the are lead or plated lead bullets it doesn't matter I'm not sure.
Ruger supplies both cylinders with the Single-Six for a reason.

.003" isn't much to squeeze a bullet down. As long as there is sufficient neck clearance, sizing the bullet down when it reaches the rifling will not cause a meaningful increase in pressure. This should be more obvious than it is. Your bullet in a 6.5 CM, 260Rem, etc is .264" in diameter, but your barrel is only .264" from one groove to the opposing groove. It is .256" from land to land. For a 7mm it is .284" groove to groove but only .277" land to land. You are substantially squeezing your bullet down to size when it hits the rifling in all instances. Adding .003" to the bullet diameter is not meaningful as long as the loaded round fits in the neck of the chamber. In the case of a Ruger Single-Six, it has the proper chamber for a .22mag in the .22mag cylinder. The barrel does not matter much. On the other hand, if you managed to fit .257" bullets into a 243Win case, and chamber it in a 243Win rifle, you'd likely blow the gun to pieces. The reason is that the case neck would be severely crimped to the bullet by the chamber. PO Ackley actually reamed the neck of a 30-06 oversized and fired 8mm bullets loaded into 30-06 brass through a .30cal barrel. The bullet diameter didn't cause any problems. On the other hand, loading 8mm bullets into 30-06 brass and firing in a standard 30-06 chamber, or loading 8x57 ammo into a 30-06 chamber, will destroy guns.

Most of the time chambering the wrong cartridge in a rifle and then pulling the trigger will blow the gun to pieces and injure the user. If you don't already know what can be interchanged and why, then don't ask the question on a forum. You need to have a better understanding of cartridges, and then you won't need to ask anyone. Such a question suggests you need to read a number of books about firearms rather than forum posts.

Some people ought not to own things that they do not understand and that could potentially be detrimental to their health and well being, self feeding woodchippers for example 😂 You know what I really want to say but I will not.

Had customer try to return a box of 32 S&W with all 50 cases buldged and spit!

I said bet you didn't hit the target once? They were all fired in an old 38 S&W. Surprised it didn't blow up, thank goodness those rounds were powder puff loads.

Told me he thought they were just lower power loads for his wife to shoot. Told him I hope your wife didn't fire any of these? No, he fired them all.

Some people just shouldn't own guns!

Sounds like a real rodeo. I have to set up loads for my SW Target 3 from 1896. Caliber 38-44. Fun and easy but there are lots of weird attempts I have heard of. Will end up shortening a 357 Max case and only use black powder. Very dangerous otherwise but some use 38 SW loaded with Unique.
