scope preference

hi, I am new to the long range game, I recently purchased a Remington 700 BDL in 300RUM and I am looking at upgrading scope. this is a hunting rig. I am looking at the vortex viper HS LR 4x16x50 and Leupold vx3i 4.5x14x50.both 30mm main tube, side focus, and exposed elevation turret. any suggestions or experience with either is appreciated. THANKS

Both should work.
I have the vx3i lrp, 6-20x really like the scope a lot. I've never even looked through the vortex scope you mentioned

I'd recommend stepping up to the Leupold VX-5HD 3-15x44. I believe it's the best value in the Leupold lineup. They can be had for $700-$800 at Lanbos armory.
