Hey gents, I am building my first semi-LRH gun right now for an antelope hunt this fall. Tikka T3X stainless/fluted in 6.5creedmoor. It will likely end up being my go-to deer gun here in Nebraska as well. I doubt I will be poking much past 300, but for some reason, the idea of capped turrets doesn't sit well with me. Am I in the wrong mindset? Should I just be going straight holdover at those distances instead of dialing it in? (complete noob here)
Scope choices: roughly $500 budget
Leupold VX-R 4-12x50 (LOVE the firedot)
Bushnell Forge 3-18x50
Vortex (Have not narrowed down yet, recommendations?)
I like having a lower 3x or 4x on the low end as I know I will likely be using it a lot in the Nebraska woods (yes, they do exist) but a 20x+ plus seems nice for the open plains speed goats.
In the next year, I will likely be building a 300wm for chasing elk, and ideally, that will be a much longer gun so there isn't a huge need to build this into a 400+ yard gun.
Any thought or words of wisdom for the new guy building his first rig?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks gr8fuldoug! I have not considered Meopta but I will definitely have a look at this one.

Sorry to let you down cohunt. 'Smoke pole' is a general gun reference around my camp. I would love to see a guy build a 1200yd muzzleloader tho.

They make them, just not what some would consider "black powder" rifles. -- never seen one on a savage receiver before though

this is a group with 312gr .402 pittman bul;ets at 1267 yards --full custom muzzle loader rifle
