Scope advice

Looking to get a new lighter piece of glass for a lightweight hunting rifle I'm currently building.
Can't decide between fixed or variable.
The first and lightest possibility is a fixed power Leupold FX3 6x42 with a custom reticle for wind holds and a CDS turret for elevation.
The other option I'm considering, also a Leupold, is their VX5HD 3-15x44.
Any other options in this weight/price/quality range y'all think I should add to the list?

It's a shortmag-based 6mm, I'm hoping to push Berger 115s at 3450' with. Thinking a solid deer performer out to 800 yards.
