Revic Ranging Bino

I bought the new Revic bino from @gr8fuldoug at cameralandny.com this morning. I sure love doing business with those guys over there. They are always worth a phone call for member discounts!

I've really liked my BR4 but always missed having a pair of ranging binos. My plan is to keep using NL Pure 12's & the BR4 for all my backpack, glassing intensive hunts. But use the new Revic binos for all my range trips and truck hunting for coyotes and pigs.

I'll keep the thread updated once I receive them! But highly recommend giving Doug at cameraland a call if you're interested in a pair. They're a forum sponsor and sure take care of their forum members!

I'm with ya on the BR4 range finder and swaro binos for backpack hunting. I never could warm up to the weight penalty of the combo's, for what you want to do the new Revic bino's sounds awesome. let us know what you think. Jason

I wish they made them in a 12x50 because like you it will be hard to get me to give up on my 12x Swaros but that would at least make it tempting. Can't wait to hear how they stack up against good glass like the NL's.

I'm really looking forward to getting them! I've owned the 10X42 Zeiss RF's, Swaro el range TA and my dad has the Leica 3200's. So I'll be able to make a decent mental comparison between them all too.

Looking forward to it. Highly interested in these but the question of glass quality for an all-purpose hunting RF bino has me on pause. Just how much do you sacrifice at first/last light vs zeiss/swaro and can you look through them all day on a tripod? Etc.

My current set up is 10x42 SLC Swarovski and Sig Kilo 2400ABS.

Ranging intended target and manual environmental input refresh times are problematic for me. Maybe I'm not the best end user? Lol.

Hopefully this range finder is better at target acquisition?

I was on the phone with Erin from gunwerks and she said the binos have a more powerful laser 5K yards versus 4K for the Revic, they can only hold one profile at a time, you need to store and change them from your phone, and they have a feature where you can change the controls from right to left handed..... which she did inadvertently and was totally lost until one of the techs discovered the issue and switched it back to right handed controls.

I have the SIG Kilo 10K binos; I will say they are much easier to hold steady than the SIG 2400. But, the compactness of a dedicated RF is an advantage: I just finished a NZ hunt. Had two guides, both with binos. I elected not to bring a bino harness, so I kept my Lieica's in the daypack and only glassed on longer sessions - not when we peaked over new land. But my SIG 2400 was either in my pocket or strung around my neck.

You definitely take a sacrifice in sheer optic performance with a dual bino. No question about it. For a lot situations it probably doesn't matter much. But some other situations, better optics could make all the difference. That's why I don't plan to give up the 12X NL pures at all. Nothing would be comparable for just a glassing optic. For tons of other things, the ranging binos will sure be nice!

Just got them. Initial impression is they are nice and compact for a ranging bino. Still fit easily in my marsupial gear harness, unlike the Swaro EL TA's. Not ideal to test glass in the middle of the day out here, but they look very promising as far as clarity and definitely contrast! Beautiful colors when looking through them. Will do more early morning testing. Here's some photos of them next to some 12X42 NL pures. They easily ranged 1800 yards right out my back door. Will definitely dive more into the range and calculator later on of course!
