Rem 700 build?

If the rifle is accurate, then consider a Limbsaver Decelerator recoil pad to soak up some of the recoil. If you are handy with tools, you could even install it yourself and save a few dollars. After that, if the felt recoil is still too much, then I would consider a muzzle brake. That should be all you need. But again, do the brake only if the accuracy of the barrel is still there. 300 WM is a great LR caliber and well worth a little time to see if your rig can be salvaged.

Agree with those that say if it still shoots well, but recoil is too much. Get out the saw, cut the stock and put on a Limbsaver. They make a HUGE difference compared to a metal buttplate. Then if you need more, add a brake. Again, only if it shoots as it currently sits.

If you decide to rebarrel, you are talking gunsmithing and action trueing. In the end you'll have a very nice stick, but more than anything, it just sounds like the metal buttplate needs to go to get you satisfied.
