Rem 700 bolt close

I have a Rem 700 and just had the barrel put on after having Jes Rebore this one to 9.3x62. now every Rem I have when I close the bolt it is nice and smooth but this one as I close the bolt has a catch move then catch not smooth I call it clunk clunk other than that everything is working good, just never had one like catch move and catch again and it takes a little force to close and this is without a case going same thing with a case chambering. any thoughts? thanks in advance. It could be tighter tolerances or it needs a GOOD cleaning to include the chamber.. Just cycle the action a lot...while sitting in the recliner watching a show etc. You take some more aggressive things but I would talk to your gunsmith first. He may want to do the work.

I would 100% call the GS. If it didn't do it before, it shouldn't do it now.

If binding closing on final downward stroke, check front action screw too long.

If the locking lug on the bolt is hitting the front action screw, you will see a mark on the outer edge of the lug. Try backing out the action screw a full turn and check bolt closing again. If the bolt nose is hitting the barrel you may see a mark on the bolt nose. If these areas already show wear, you can blacken them with a felt-tip marker.

I would also check all this with the firing pin assembly removed, blacken everything with a permanent marker.

working good now a little grease on the bolt lugs and a lot of cycling and it is nice now. thanks
