I never did any neck turning before and not sure if its necessary or just something to do to increase accuracy. I've sized 30-30 up to 32 spl, 243 to 7-08 and 308 down to 7-08 by simply running them into a FL sizing die and they loaded and fired fine.
I'm thinking of getting a 7mm BR but no brass is available. I can get 6mm BR so can I just run them into a 7mm BR die and load and shoot?
I should point out that I'm not interested in minute of gnat accuracy. I just want a round I can shoot with decent accuracy. This will be a "toy" gun.

Yes. You can expand 6BR to 7BR.

I also expand 223 to 7TCU

A 6.5mm expander mandrel would help as pulling a .284 button through your .243 neck will probably affect your shoulder.

Yes you can neck it up to 7 BR. I too do an intermediate necking up with a 6.5 expander. No lost cases.

I would use a tapered .284 mandrel otherwise you might just push the shoulder back and ruin the case, then if it fits your chamber load it and shoot.

I go from 6mm to 7mm without any problems using Redding expander and plenty of Imperial Wax. You can do the same from .224 to 7mm as well, at least making 7mmTCU.

You can also make them by simply firing 6 BR shells in your 7 BR chamber. This is how I form my 7 TCU brass by simply firing .223 Rem. rounds in my 7 TCU. Don't do it with a muzzle brake or suppressor though because the bullets keyhole when they leave the barrel.

I'm sure you can but I don't think I'd want to do such a thing. Maybe in a survival mode I would.

When you size the neck up, it will get thinner so no problems with fit. When you size down, depending on the spec of your chamber, it may be necessary to neck turn in order to get sufficient clearance in the chamber as the necks will get thicker.

I make 7mmTCU cases out of 5.56 and .223 cases by running them through the 7mmTCU die. I use an RCBS lube pad and lubricate the neck by pushing it straight down onto the pad and giving it a little twist. I recently did 100 cases, and only lost one.

Not without adding some corn meal or cream of wheat with a wax plug in the tip. You need something to make the powder build pressure when it fires.
But I just used cheap military surplus ammo, preferably LC brass.

I do an extra step and use a 6.5mm expander as well.
