Material items can be replaced. Eyes and life cannot.

Care to elaborate on how this mistake happened? May be a good teaching moment.
Wearing safety glasses has saved my eyes on three occasions, side shields on your safety glasses save you from your neighbors mis haps.
My uncle was reloading and I was doing the shooting. He put 10g too much powder in a 22/250. Should have been 4895 and he used 4198. The Rem 700 took the pressure ok, but the bolt was ruined, froze up solid. I had to pull the barrel to get the case out of the bolt. I got a face full of gas and unburnt powder. I am glad the bolt did not have a sako or M16 extractor installed, it would have been a projectile.
While I was shooting at a public range, a guy had his M1 blow up from a broken firing pin, which we found out was not unusual. The round discharged out of battery. I was sitting beside the guy on the adjacent bench and I was covered.

I wear readers now for close up stuff and actually like the fact I'm wearing something in front of my eyes when hand loading and gunsmithing. Some springs can fly out at eye popping speed. I haven't had a primer pop in my hand yet, but I am protected more now than I was with no glasses.
Shooting is definitely a sport for glasses, but I don't like them as they get fogged, or the frame cuts out the sight picture. But it's like eating vegetables, got to do it because they're good for you!
I just got a prescription pair I can use looking through the scope. I need to get that prescription in some no top frame Oakleys.
