I know this is not exactly 'long range' equipment, but it will be....

Does anyone know if this can be done? The .416 has a base diameter of 0.590" and the .458 has a diameter of 0.532". Can I safely open the bolt up to accept this case?

The .416 length is also a fair bit longer but that won't matter as the rifle is to be a wildcat and is shorter.

BTW, the rifle is a CZ550 Safari Magnum.

Can this be done?

I believe the Cz550 comes factory chambered in the 416 Rigby so I do not see a problem unless the action used on the 458 is a smaller version but I do not believe so.

Should not be a problem to do this.

More details on your wildcat using the big Rigby case please!!!

Always good to hear about new projects.

Good Shooting!!!
