Picked up a Savage Striker pistol at the last show in 22-250(believe me, not my first choice in calibers, the price was to good to pass up) and would like to re-barrel. First choice is 250/3000 since all I'd have to change for sure is the barrel. Anybody know if any short action caliber rifle barrel would work by simply cutting off, for 308 based calibers would the magazine box need to be changed? It came with bases, rings and a cheap scope that I can replace latter. Open for suggestions since this will be the summer project.

savage boltheads are amazingly easy to switch and they are under $50 and 5 min... Mcgowen barrels has a very nice deal on pistol barrels prechambered and threaded for the action/barrel nut. I think you can get a barrel all set up from them for well under $200...
