Rangefinder

Whats the best range-finder in the $500-600 dollar or under range?
Leupold, Nikon, Zeiss, etc?

I use the Nikon and find it to work great. I use it 3-5 times a week when I am out hunting and I have had it 6 months and it is till on the first battery and the battery is till showing full. Its clear and simple to use and was about $500. I purchased it off of e-bay.

Don't waste your money in the 500-600 dollar range. The lieca 1200 falls into that category but leaves a lot to be desired. Get a demo swarovski rangefinder for about 790 the extra coin is well worth it. I got 2 from Doug at cameraland one for me and one for my dad.

We gave our lieca away thats how pleased we were with the swaro. I'm sure if you shop around you may even find them cheaper than that.

The Leupold is absolute garbage and not worth the parts it's made of!!! Nikon is OK, the Zeiss is the best one on your list. I would pony up and get a Leica 1600, you can find them for $700 ish. I've been playing around with one that one of the guys I hunt with bought locally for $650 and it is a much better range finder than the Swaro I've used.

There's only one the leica 1200 dont waist you money on the others.

Let me say to clear up my above post I don't have a leica 1200 i have use them and they work great. but I have a swar 1500. But the ????????? was a range finder between 500-600 and i think the best new RF is the leica 1200.
Now if it was me i would do what others have said i would save more $$$ and be looking really hard at the leica 1600 are a swar are wait till the new G7 comes out. thats what i'm waiting on now but if it's not a good as it looks then a new 1600 will be in the mail.
Just remember that your LR rifle is only as good as your range finder so save and get the very best one you can the first time and knowing what i know now i don't think swar would be my #1 choise when looking. Its time for swar to step up and up grade there RF to a 2000-2500 now that would be a killer RF.

I began with a Cabela's 1200, which I grew to hate. It would range my neighbors garage (295y) great but on non reflective surface it wouldnt have ranged Willi Nichols(213 yrds). I sold it and got a Bushnell 1500 and it will range the flies on an antelopes rear at 1300y no prob. Tho I dont recall the cost I think it was 399 or 299.00. Good luck on your quest. Ya get what ya pay for.

I've read that those Bushnell Elite 1500s are nice and range with the best of them. I guess they're just a little bulky compared to the Leica and Swaro. The Nikons I've used are bulky also. I'm going to get this Elite 1500...

Used the Bushnell 1500 and was never able to range out ot 1000 yards many times...seemed finicky. I have the Swaro RF (Used) and it seems to work fine.

As arrogant as it sounds, anyone who buys a rangefinder (in this price range) other than a Leica, zeiss or swaro is an outright fool...

As it was stated above " your long range rig is only as good as your range finder". I have used Bushnells 800-1000-1500, Lieca 1200-1600-geovids,Ziess and Leupold. I have a Swaro. It beats all the others hands down. I will pound out 1500+ yards all the time. Great glass to boot. Great battery life. Save the money and go for a Swaro.
