Powder for custom 300 Win Mag 180-210 gr bullet

I have been doing a lot of research on reloading for the past six months and am just now getting ready to start loading my own rounds. I have a custom 300 win mag, 26 in barrel 1/10 twist.

The barrel was bored for 190 grain bullets and the Berger's seem to work really well. I am looking for some information on what powders you all recommend. I have the Berger and Hornady reloading manuals and I have heard some good things on H4350 and H1000.

Any info is appreciated.

H1000, Reloader 22 and Retumbo seem to be popular. I load Reloader 22 in my 300 wm (26" tube) with 208 Amax. Since it is scarce, I just bought some Ramshot Magnum but haven't had a chance to load with it yet.

Out of curiousity what kind of velocity are you getting

I'm running Nosler 200gr Accubonds, Norma brass and FED215 primers with 81gr of RE25, I get 3200+fps in my 28" barreled custom 700.
I tried H1000, but found it was too lnconsistent in my rifle, I have had good results with Retumbo and 208 A-Max, but haven't been able to get any A-Max for some time here, the Accubonds are slightly more accurate in my rifle, but they didn't like either H1000 or Retumbo.
RE22 is also a very good powder, but you get better speed with RE25.

IMR-7828 you should top out at about 77-79 grains perhaps a grain more or a grain less depending on your rifle and the capacity of your brass as always work up from below looking for pressure find your rifle's safe max and work from there on seating depth. I have a load with the 185 Berger in my 300 Win it is 77 grains of 7828 in partial resized brass. I went up to 80 grains fair bit of compression in the case and a little bit of primer flattening but nothing scary. 77 proved to be the most accurate and I will take small groups with a little less speed any day. If I need more than what this load will do I'll haul out the 338 RUM.

You should be able to find a load pretty quick in the 300 with a quality rifle the Win is a pretty well behaved cartridge that does well with a lot of bullets weights and powders.

H-1000 for a year round true long range rifle in varying temps. I have set up dozens of 300 wins with it using 210 plus Bergers.

If you can find some 215 Hybrids your 300 will probably like them and they have served us well in the 300 win hunting to 1300 yards. 1/2 moa to 1400 yards repeatedly. They group an average of 1 moa at a mile and just beyond too.

This combination is the tried and true reason I shoot my 300 win over my 7mm wildcats for true long range hunting.

I have really good results with 75,5gr vihtavuori n165 with 190 bergers. It shoots 1/2moa groups constant out of a 25" barrel at a speed of 905m/s...

H4831SC is my go to powder for most of my rifles and have very good luck with it.

I have a SAKOM995 in .300 Win Mag 1:11 23 1/2" barrel and loaded up last year with 190 Berger VLD with 75 H4831SC, CCI250, Win brass, 2.886" COAL at 3043 FPS. Blessed with bull elk harvest last year at 931 yards.

Great info and thanks. So far getting the brass has been the hardest thing to find along with the powder (at least in NW Arkansas) Cabela's cant seem to keep anything of a variety on the shelves.

76grns of H1000 put my 208 amax's in the same hole out of my stock Rem 700 .300wm. I've tried H1000 with lighter 180grn pills and didn't see great results, I found the 180 pills liked H4831 the best. The 208amax and H1000 has been one heck of a combo for my rifle, I ended up buying 2 more jugs of H1000 the other day. Good luck to you.

I'm running 77.5 GRS. Of H1000, CCI 250 Primers and getting 2900 FPS with the 215 Bergers. I can't remember my seating depth off hand.
