powder bottles/wind indicators?

What do people use, for the little bottles that have powder in them, to detect wind direction and what kind of powder do you, they use?

They are cheap enough that I have several, one in jacket pocket, one in bino pouch, one in pack.

"Smoke In A Bottle" brand has worked great for us in archery and rifle elk. It has a very fine powder that is light enough to float in the lowest wind.....the purple color can be seen for quite a distance. Have tried them all, but the others have too heavy of a powder for low wind. Wouldn't head out elk hunting without one in my pocket.
