In the past there has been several threads on removing carbon rings, etc. However, when I do a search in the forums on using Polyetheramine (PEA) to remove carbon rings it does not come up with anything.

As many of you will know, Polyetheramine (PEA) is a highly effective solvent that is used in fuel injector cleaning fluid. If you are a chemist or have used Polyetheramine (PEA) or fuel injector cleaning fluid to remove carbon rings, would you please post your recommendations/results? Specifically, will Polyetheramine (PEA) harm various finishes found on barrels and plastic stocks? What is the process you use with Polyetheramine (PEA) or fuel injector cleaning fluid?

If this has been posted/discussed previously, I apologize in advance. Hope everyone has a great day.

Thanks Oregonian. Guess I wasn't searching on the correct terms or the search engine doesn't search for words in a posting.

I see a lot of people complaining about carbon rings, the easiest and fastest method I've found is as follows. Clean your barrel as normal with your favorite solvent (Boretech, Butch's, ProShot, Shooter's Choice, etc) then before you run any dry patches, take a short chamber rod with a fixed handle and a brush that's 1-2 calibers bigger. I use a Dewey brass cleaning rod with a non-rotating handle that's about 14-16" long and for a 6mm I'll use a worn out 7mm or 30cal bronze brush. Stick the brush up into the throat area of the chamber and rotate the rod 30 full revolutions. Then run a wet patch down the barrel to flush out any loose fouling you cleared out or the throat and neck area of the chamber. After that finish your cleaning process and dry out the barrel.

I do the same thing but use a drill with a short cleaning rod. I take a nylon brush and wrap a patch around it, put iosso on, then use the drill.

As far as searching, one tip is to use google instead. You put your search term, then which site you want to search, and Google will search the site for you (as opposed to using the search function in the forum, which isn't the best imo).

Example -
Polyetheramine barrel carbon site:www.longrangehunting.com

Copy that above, then use google to search and the results will be only LRH results. It is way better than the forum search software.
