I will tell you what I know (which is very little).
If it is a older Remingtion custom shop gun it should look like this.
Walnut stock with a rose wood forearm cap and grip cap,hand cut
wrap around checkering on forearm and pistol grip,a monty carlo
cheek piece and two hardwood dowels in the recever area of stock.
Also it will have a barrel band about 3" past the stock. and is bedded
and floated.
A realy nice one should bring around $2,000.oo.
The assembly line guns are normaly strait classic stocks with black plastic
tip and grip cap with sling swivels on stock insted of barrel and brass pins through the stock in the recever area.
They are non near,ly as nice as the custom shop guns but have the same
barrel and action.
They bring $700 to a $1000.oo dollars.
There maY be a few variations but it is easy to tell the custom shop
guns.
The 416 rem is a great round and with a good selection of bullets can
be used on all game from deer to cape buffalo or larger.
300gr to 350gr bullets have good ballistics out to 3 or 400 yrds and will hammer elk and brown bear. and the 400 or 410gr bullets will handle
everthing else.
