I don't care how dumb you might be, I don't think you could've done this on your own. I wonder if there is something wrong with your dies. When I say wrong, I mean, dimensionally wrong or possibly some kind of bad shape like a burr. I would pull the dye apart and measure The expander.

Gotta be brass problem....I can't see anyway to pull a neck off in a die...I hate to admit that I have had more than just One stuck case...and on those the rims broke off around the shell holder...( Lube..not enough)... But pull the necks off....take one HELLLLLLO of a lot of strength " TO PULL THAT TRICK OFF" ..( pun intended)

Reloaded lots of Lapua 6.5-284 and have never seen that happen…with any cartridge for that matter.

I, too, have reloaded various cartridges, including wildcats and cheap brass/once-fired brass, and have not experienced it.

My first guess is bad brass. If you run known good brass through your die what happens?

I've never bought "once fired" brass before, and that won't change.

If you had a 6mm die and a 7mm expander, that would probably do it!

Me too till the day I neck turned some brass with a steep cutter. Necks came off just like OP photo.

Definitely a brass issue and if I had to guess I would say someone probably necked these cases up to .284 and turned them to a tight custom chamber(A bit too tight). Used brass is like a box of chocolates...

I would not try and use the brass that made it through the sizing process, it would be asking for trouble. Maybe they were tumbled/polished so well to hide abuse/use

Seller decided including brass with missing necks would lower the asking price

Where is the expander positioned in your die? If too high, you can pinch it while sizing the neck portion and rip the neck off.
