newbie scope for .308 AR

Just purchased a DPMS Lightweight hunter AR in .308 and need to put a scope on it.
Use of the rifle will be anything from target to Texas size hogs.
Trying to find a scope that will do it all and inexpensive at the same time. I know, I will wake up from my dream sometime.
Never had or used a scope. (aimpoints on our M4s if that counts)

For the use you mentioned I would recomend a scope that starts in price around $300.oo+
with a range of 3 or 4 power lower end variable to 9 to 14 power on the upper end.

A variable power will give you a lot of flexibility in shooting situations.

There are lots of brands that will give you good service as long as you don't go to a
cheep scope. Nikon,Leupold,Burris are a few of the good brands.
