Newbie Scope Question

I am trying to decide on a scope for my first custom build. I posted about the rifle here...

High level though is that it is a GA Precision 30-06. Longest expected shot would be around 500 yards. Think I have narrowed down the magnification to the 4.5-14 range. I know that I want a custom dial but am trying to decide between the MK4 with the M1 dial and the VX3 with either the CDS or M1 dial. Also trying to decide on rings and bases. I would appreciate your feedback.

the 4.5x14 would be plenty of scope.
i have scopes with both target and m1 knobs and i prefer caps on the knobs.
i would use a picatinny type base. e.g.w has a good one and its not expensive.
for 500 yd shooting a taper wouldnt be necessary in my opinion, but thats an option.
i would look at weaver tactical rings. very solid and again reasonable.
