I picked up a new old stock remington 700 in 7mm Rum, I'm going to have built into a 7mm STW. I have no experience with this ctg, just always liked hot rods, cars bikes, bows rifles....and of course woman. Can anyone help me with specs for a longrange rig, I want to shoot heaviest VLDS I can, so I need twist, barrel length/contour and a stable stock platform. Thanks in advance, Gary

Go with a Bartlein 5R 7mm Sendero/Rem Varmint contour barrel with a 28" finished length, and a 1:8 twist. You can shoot the Berger 195 Hybrids.

What model 700 is it? If it's a Sendero, then you already have a great platform, and I recommend just having the action blueprinted, the barrel swapped (with the above spec'd barrel), and have it all DevCon bedded into the factory Sendero HS Precision stock. Another good option would be to have a 4.000" Wyatt's Outdoors extended mag box on it while the smith has it and while it's already disassembled.

If it is not a Sendero model, then I recommend the new Stocky's Long Range Composite stocks.

Pretty sure I gave you a few stock suggestions, but I guess you didn't like them.

If you want to spend more for the exact same thing, buy a Manners or McMillan.

that adjustable stock will be on a hunting rig ?

LR hunting rig...Lone Peak Fuzion action and a Benchmark/Frozen Fiber carbon barrel in 338 RUM.

For strictly a "hunting" rifle a McMillan Hunter is the best stock ever made imo. McMillan has them sometimes for around $400 also.
