I have a cartridge that I modified over 25 years ago using a 270 bullet. It is basically a 280 ai case necked to 270 as I had barrels bullets and more than one 270 win to up the performance of.For a few years I was somewhat happy with the Scottish h4831.Then with it gone rl22 came along and it was ok at the time.I forever used the 130 sierra sbt and the nosler 130 bt.The velocity was good out of my 27 inch hart bbl but I wanted a bit more. Then I tried rl25 and it was more accurate and faster without being as easy to go too high on pressure. This was with 140 barnes and better with 140 accubonds.Great bullets kill like the hammer of thor. Then the long distance bug really bit the last 2 summers on crop permits and soybeans.Enter vihtavouri v165 and a good rifle became a real shooter with more speed vs the pressure on my gun. This gun is 10 twist and I have a bad shoulder and although it's not that bad 3260 fps with a 140 isn't exactly a 22 250 either.I'm building a new gun heavier with the same cartridge and a 9 twist bartlein 5r 30 inch 1.25 straight bbl with a borden timberline action and hs stock w wyatt box.I know this is a long post but my question is does anyone have experience with the matrix 165 and hopefully v165 too.I used fed 210 m with my sporter 27 in.hart 63 grs v165 very mild seemingly on pressure.I know retumbo and h1000 and 7828 are good too I was just so impressed with the v165 I'm hoping it has a place here too.Testing will tell.By the way I named it the grim reaper long long ago before the 280ai was cool.Do any of you think my 9 twist will work against my 140 load and do you have an opinion on v165 with matrix 165s.I feel that maybe the 277 bore guns just might be coming of age with these vlds and I know I must learn their quirks and will in due time. Please chime in if any of you will and I will appreciate it.Maybe lucky but 681 yards is my longest kill and three over 600 and 12 more over 500.That may not be long range to you guys lol but it sure made my summer and 27 does this summer had the 140 accubonds tested and 22 drt and the others went less than 25 yds. Thanks and I appreciate this forum I read about every day.I will shut up now lol lol and hope I get to meet some of you guys someday!!!!

I'm aware nobody probably has the exact cartridge aithnd I have used 280ai load recipes working up but I have found on my gun very similar speeds and results as a 280ai.After all its only .007 though different and case capacity the same.I do make my brass from 30 06 lapua cases and my best load is 140 accu bond n165 63 grs and 210 match feds.I haven't used the 215s as before and it has grouped better wit the 210 when the old lot of h4831 was available.I didn't try them on rl22 rl25 or vv165.

Thanks man.If it kills as good as the 140 accubond or better I have no doubt they will be accurate too.

That's great shooting.I have understood by listening to the results others have had that the 165 matrix is a very capably accurate bullet I just hope I can find a go to load for my new gun after I get it going in a few months. The terminal performance on game is hopefully as good or better than the accubond 140s.It's my hope is that my 140s will still be very accurate with the 9 twist 5r bartlein as well as having enough twist for the matrix 165s.

Thanks for the info. Are they real jump sensitive or pretty tolerant? My new gun will have a wyatt bo x o n it s o I can go pretty much anywhere on it
