Berger Bullets is pleased to announce the release of their new 270 Cal 170 gr EOL Elite Hunter. This bullet was inspired by Bob Beck, host of Extreme Outer Limits (EOL), and designed by Bryan Litz.

This bullet is designed for maximum external and terminal ballistic performance in 270 caliber rifles that have twist rates faster than the traditional 1:10". They are made with the longest possible Hybrid ogive. The long nose produces the highest possible BC, but does not comply with the limitations of SAAMI and CIP COAL standards. This bullet is deliberately intended for hunters who use custom rifles and either have extended length magazines or single feed their ammo.
The Extreme Outer Limits MOA line of rifles are made with faster-than-conventional twist rates to stabilize such long, high performance bullets. The 270 caliber MOA rifle comes with a 1:8.5" twist which is plenty of twist to stabilize the new Berger 170 grain Elite Hunter in all conditions.

Although this new high BC, heavy-for-caliber bullet is great for long range, it's also an excellent option for hunting at any range. The high sectional density of heavy-for-caliber bullets promotes greater penetration than lighter, faster bullets.

If you've been considering the 270 for larger game and are concerned about the penetration potential of conventional options, this bullet is the answer.

These bullets can be ordered through a Berger Bullets Dealer or from Extreme Outer Limits.

I'm currently shooting 165Matrix in my LR 270WIN with good success. Have a 1-9 twist barrel from Benchmark.

Do you know if these will stabilize in 1-9 twist?

Bergers website has a twist rate calculator. But it's recommend for 1:8.

olyeller,
+1 on what tbrice23 said. Couple of things to add. First , be sure to enter in the altitude you will be shooting at. If you will be shooting at multiple altitudes use the lowest to figure your SG (stability factor). An SG of 1.5 or more is optimal BUT if your SG is 1.4 to 1.49 the bullet will still be stabilized but the BC will be compromised. This does not mean that the bullet will not be flying point forward at long ranges ( 600 yards +) . What it means that external factors such as wind , spin stabilization ETC will have more of an affect on the bullet than if you were using 100% of the BC. at 0-600 yards you would see little or know difference from the 100% BC.
