I agree. Steel wool just doesn't sound like the best application, when dealing with barrel grooves.

I would not warrantee one of my rifles if the customer used steel wool to clean the bore, neither would any barrel maker on the planet.
Even a couple passes on a match grade stainless barrel with this proceedure will ruin the mirror finish of the fine barrel.
A little more elbow grease and patients will work much better. Just my opinion though!
