Need gunsmith for STW Project Win 70 action

Good evening folks, I just purchased a Winchester 70 in 7mm STW. Like many of you, it's my favorite caliber. Anyway, the rifle is circa 1994 and beautiful but it's right handed. Also not sure it's going to have the accuracy I'm looking for. I heard that not all gunsmiths work on win 70 actions. So I need a smith to true action and rebarrel and restock. I obviously need a lefty stock with right bolt.

I figured I'd ask my fellow STW fans.

I had my exact same rifle worked over by some guy in Wisconsin that specialized in model 70's. I will look through my old emails and see if I can find his info. I put a 27' lilja on it blued just like factory and he glassed and pillared the factory walnut stock. It's awesome.

I use two here in the Salt lake valley. Chris Howard (Chris's Gun Repair) in Taylorsville and Five Alarm Gunsmith ( Glade, he's a Fireman!) They both do outstanding work! Very reasonable and pretty quick, but don't wait close to hunting season, ha! Good luck to you sir.

I think the stock is going to be the hard part-- McMillan has reduced their M70 offerings in LH.

You can get a neutral Hunters Edge Sporter M70 inlet for your right handed action and there is no palm swell or cheekpiece. You might be able to get a Pre64 Monte Carlo as a LH/Flat top and get a smith to inlet the RH action? Worth calling McM.

I think you can also get an AG composite flat top that is neutral and have a smith inlet it.

Re-barreling is simple, truing the action is also simple with the correct fixtures. Truing the bolt lugs and abutments is also not difficult. Again, you need the correct fixtures.
I no longer gunsmith, sold my business in 2021.
Inletting for a LH stock to RH action can be done, but is it a cheek piece you are looking for specifically for LH use?
My first 7STW was on a Win Model 70 CRF model from the 90's.
Swapped it out for a Rem 700 due to the longer mag box, run a 3.85" Wyatt's in my current switch barrel Rem 700 trued and extended.

Unless you're super partial to that particular rifle I think I'd start with the proper left hand equipment and build one to suit my needs

Yeah, I'm thinking about it. I can get an action for 1600. I paid 900 for this gun but the time I'm done is $700 gonna be worth it to not have full custom. Anyway, I'm just using this for an elk hunt in November so I figure I'm gonna shoot it as is as long as the accuracy is there

Get a hold of Gene Simillion of Grand Junction, as good as it gets. For a stock get one of Echol's "Legend" handles with Edge fill.
