Hello folks,

New here and new to handloading. I have just "built" a 270win here's what i have going on, a 26in Mcgowen 1:8 twist (SAAMI spec), Savage axis action, on a oryx chassis dont recall what the rail or rings are but ive got a venom 5-25 on it.
Any recommended loads? I have on hand 148grHH 150grPRT. Powder i am limited to what i can get I have some H4831sc and IMR4831 , primers are all CCI large rifle BR. Looking to take this gun out to 700+ yard on deer sized game.
Thanks, Joe

55 gr of H4831 should get you about 2800 fps or so for a 150 cup/core bullet. 55 is a near max load according to the Hodgdon website. 53 is a near max load of IMR 4831 and it is showing only a few fps faster than H4831.
Always start low on the powder charge.

i used magpro. 62 grains but my chamber is LONG. 60 grains with 150 ABLR should be the bomb. or get it rechambered like i did to 270 BEE.

start a few grains low and the magpro is great accuracy.

fast enough, but not for me. i got 2950 with my freebore.

I've been loading Nosler 165gr ablr in my factory fast twist browning. They are finicky to find a seating depth they like but once you do they shoot great. For the heavier bullets I use rl26 but that stuff is almost impossible to find or when you do you need to sell some organs to pay for it. Any of the powders around the burn rate of rl26 should work well. Otherwise I am going to try staball 6.5 for 140-150gr when I get around to it. Have also used imr4831 before with good accuracy just not the speed of some of the other powders(rl26). Not sure how the HH load would compare to Barnes but they have data for their bullets up to their 155 Lrx
