My new Long Range Hunting rifle is almost done.
I used:
Tikka T3 Stainless Action
Benchmark 5r .264" Barrel in a Sendero Contour cut to 18.5"
Cal. 6.5 Creedmoor
Yo-dave trigger spring @ ¾ lb
Tikka T3 Laminated Stock
Tikka CTR Synthetic stock
SS recoil Lug on the Laminated
Titanium Lug on the CTR
Talley Lightweight Rings
Zeiss Terra 3x 3-9X42 Z-600

I´m still waiting for the Minimag Muscle break to arrive and I plan to blend it in the barrel. It must improve the looks of the barrel a lot.

oooh, that's nice and short, perfect for a can! forget the muzzle brake, get a nice TBAC or SICO, similar recoil reduction with none of the eye crossing concussion. Nice build, my tikka build should be done anytime now too, 25-06.

Nice rifle but It being a 6.5 Creedmoor I must ask what are you hunting and what is "long range" ?
Seems to be a belief especially with the younger guys that the 6.5 Creedmoor is some kind of magical death ray laser, ( if so, then that should make the 264 Win Mag an Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile)

6.5 Creedmoor
140 gr Berger Hybrid bullets 2750 fps at the muzzle
shows 1200 ft lbs energy at 591 yards ( min energy for elk)
1000 ft lbs energy at 738 yards ( min for deer)
and that is with a 24" barrel, yours is 5.5" shorter and velocity will be a 100 fps or so less..... so 522 yards at 1200 ft lbs and 668 yards for 1001 ft lbs.....

the only problem now is bullets that may not open up reliably to properly kill an animal so you are basically 500 yards max ? that is hardly long range, sure a skilled shooter can extend that range another couple hundred yards for "shot placement" then wait for the animal to bleed out........

not trying to kill your buzz, but realistically.....mid range hunting maybe ?
long range target 1K ? sure why not

I´m getting 2950fps out of my Tac 30 26" Bartlein loaded with 140 VLD´s which gives me 1200 ft-lbs @680yd and 1000 ft-lbs @820yds. Not bad

I load it with 43gr of RL-17 and CCI200 primers inside Hornady Brass.

Here´s the finished product
I Melonited everything but the bolt.
I installed a G1 Vortex razor just to try the rifle, but the scope for it will be a Zeiss 3.9X42 RZ-600.
I´m taking it for a ride tomorrow, lets see how it works.

I've seen deer hit with half of the so called minimum at very long range and they bang flopped on the spot. It doesn't take very much energy at all to kill a deer on the spot.

I know a lot of people's me use the 1000 ftlbs theory. But after shooting lots of 300blk kills I don't believe that to be true. Seems to be much more associated with the min of the bullet. As I've shot lots with a .357 lever gun that is well below 1000 does just fine.
But I agree people are trying to strech out these 6.5's. I'm hoping to be right around 500-600 max with my ultra light build.

Finally finished the rifle

Tactical configuration:
CTR stock with titanium recoil Lug and Stainless steel pillars.
Vortex Razor HD 5-20X50

Hunting Configuration:
Original stock fitted for barrel.
Zeiss Terra 3x 3-9X42 Z600

Very nice looking rifle. I just don't want to be on the range when you shoot it. Short barrel and a brake? Is there such thing as triple ear protection?

Neat setup. What did it end up weighing?

What FPS are you looking to achieve?

I believe it's somewhere around 7lb unscoped. Magneto v3 says 2750 with 140 bergers and ELD-X.

Berger hybrid 140
Hornady brass
42gr RL-17
CCI 250
Btol 2.233"
MV 2750

Hornady ELD-X 143
Hornady brass
42gr RL-17
CCI 250
Btol 2.233"
MV 2750

Hornady SST 123
Hornady brass
44gr RL-17
CCI 250
Btol 2.233"
MV 2920

Those are my most accurate loads

Thats a good weight compared a factory Tikka @ 6.3lbs and the CTR @ 7.5lbs

I am waiting on the factory tikka CTR in 6.5Creedmoor to get released myself.
