Muzzleloader question

I bought a TC Hawken off a guy for $10 with similar problems. In your case the projectile can't be too far from your access point if you could drill through it. I went to Home Depot and bought a 36" piece of threaded rod that was as close to the diameter of the bore that I could find. I had sprayed PB blaster down the barrel from the muzzle and let it stew in that for a week. I pounded out the projectile. I did not use a hammer. I was lucky to have a "dead blow" hammer. I figure that a large mallet would work. Three blows and the projectile and rod blew out the breech. No harm no foul. My $10 muzzleloader has been functioning perfectly ever since.

That's what I had in mind. A threaded rod.

Bring it to a machinist who can put it in a lathe and drill it out….or save the aggravation and expensive and chunk it.

I would but it's not mine and it has sentimental value to the owner

The ones with a breach plug, as was mentioned, remove the plug and push out.

The other one, you're kinda stuck using a bullet puller.

The really bad thing is that Pyrodex tends to attract moisture.
And it's corrosive.
So kinda like a salt bath sitting behind the bullet.
Depending on how long they sat, and how bad the corrosion is, they might all be wall hangers now.

Huh. That's cool I never knew they existed. Haven't really dug into that aspect much as, it's not my circus. I'm just holding the monkey right now.

I always gave the edge to Getz, but by a very slight margin, and probably more so because I knew them better personally.

Getz barrels - that's a well-known name here in Pennsylvania. I had to check to see if you were from PA but, it looks like you are from Arkansas. Back in the 70's during the flintlock craze, lots of local guys were buying Getz barrels.

I know they were still backlogged with orders 2016ish. Great guys, happy to call them friends.
For years, we all traveled to the Contempary Longrifle Assoc. show in Louisville, Ky. to have fun!
