Muscle brake on Sendero contour

I'm having a new barreled action put together in .300 WSM. I'm using a Kreiger barrel with Sendero contour and a round 4 port muscle brake. I wanted to get the brake turned down to 1" and then taper to the diameter of the barrel which is .830. My smith is telling me that since the brake uses 3/4 threads that it won't leave enough material on the barrel to use. I think he is wrong and it will work. Any issues with doing this?

The 3/4" threads are to large for the Sendero contour in my opinion, so your smith is correct.

A 11/16'' thread size could also be used.

The proper thread size would be 5/8 x 24 to give you enough material around the barrel threads
for safety. Also the proper amount of shoulder to seat the brake against.

Ok, which muscle brake would be best for a .300 WSM?

Ryan Pierce's new slabbed 5-port would be my choice >>> http://www.piercisionrifles.com/slabbed-5-port-muscle-brake
