Here's my rant...surely to set somebody off. But that's what the internet is for.
This last 6 months, I decided to quit running out and buying stuff just because I could and it was available. Especially when its something that I didn't need and it was way too cost ineffective anyways. I'd sure like to get 2# of 4895, but it's just not worth the cost/headache right now. I'll find some down the road.
I did have a lot of fun this fall experimenting with powder/bullet combos that I never tried before. For example, on one lucky day I bought 8# of AA4064 and 8# of AA4350 and I learned to use it. Something new to me, but worked out just fine.
I get it that some guys need powder real bad, and it sucks. I know a guy that has spent thousands on reloading supplies during this last two years and I think its kinda stupid because most of it is hodgepodge mix-matched crap that he wont use anyways. I think it takes away from the opportunity that others may have to get what they need. But its easy for me to say...i still have 7# of 4350 in my pocket
. I did share a few hundred LR Magnum primers with a couple good friends this year. But then it's always that one guy that comes around and wants to buy 2k (and I know he's reloading for other people and turning a profit by charging premium prices for less than marginal effort)...I told him I was down to 200 and couldnt spare any.
Eventually this **** will all level out a bit and we can plan for ourselves better. I have plans already in the works to condense down to 4 (or maybe 5) rifle powders and three for pistol. I've gone back to shooting the 'ol aught six too....I leave the ubermagnum in the safe for now, it costs a fortune to feed it.
No...im not a Kool aid drunk socialist either. Far from it. I just learned to back off and live it as it comes. Makes life easy.
It's a new year. Lets all try a new tune. Be cool, man.
