SOLD/EXPIRED Midway IMR 4895 1lb. Limits?????!!!!@@##???

It's been 1 lb for a long time I'm pretty sure, I thought maybe things were getting better when I ordered then, but I guess not. Best of luck alot of powder and primers moving. Powder valley upgraded their server today supposed to be able to take the push when they have stuff, historically it freezes when things get busy

I got lucky and found a limit of 1 on an 8# jug of IMR 4895 at PV about a week ago. It arrived yesterday. I don't like buying 1#s but sometimes may have to. The supply did not last long but conditions seem to be improving.

Here's my rant...surely to set somebody off. But that's what the internet is for.

This last 6 months, I decided to quit running out and buying stuff just because I could and it was available. Especially when its something that I didn't need and it was way too cost ineffective anyways. I'd sure like to get 2# of 4895, but it's just not worth the cost/headache right now. I'll find some down the road.

I did have a lot of fun this fall experimenting with powder/bullet combos that I never tried before. For example, on one lucky day I bought 8# of AA4064 and 8# of AA4350 and I learned to use it. Something new to me, but worked out just fine.

I get it that some guys need powder real bad, and it sucks. I know a guy that has spent thousands on reloading supplies during this last two years and I think its kinda stupid because most of it is hodgepodge mix-matched crap that he wont use anyways. I think it takes away from the opportunity that others may have to get what they need. But its easy for me to say...i still have 7# of 4350 in my pocket ;). I did share a few hundred LR Magnum primers with a couple good friends this year. But then it's always that one guy that comes around and wants to buy 2k (and I know he's reloading for other people and turning a profit by charging premium prices for less than marginal effort)...I told him I was down to 200 and couldnt spare any.

Eventually this **** will all level out a bit and we can plan for ourselves better. I have plans already in the works to condense down to 4 (or maybe 5) rifle powders and three for pistol. I've gone back to shooting the 'ol aught six too....I leave the ubermagnum in the safe for now, it costs a fortune to feed it.

No...im not a Kool aid drunk socialist either. Far from it. I just learned to back off and live it as it comes. Makes life easy.

It's a new year. Lets all try a new tune. Be cool, man.

Didn't set me off, well said. I stacked deep the day before trump made the 2 weeks speech. I started shooting garands more and needed some new powders, so was in the market for some. Alot of guys I know would reload till on the last lb then go to local and buy one more. It works in the best of times, not now. It'll get better, not sure how soon we will see see $15 dollar powder and $20 a k primers. Them days may be over for a long while. Got to keep them barrels warm !

Midway, really like dealing with that outfit, Larry Potterfield, great service. Sometimes it's free shipping, that's when ya order a bit more. There's no way that Larry's goal is too make money off Hazmat. I'm sure he'd rather have an ample supply of all the stuff he sells and be able to deliver it to his good customers.

I added 2 pounds of H4350 to my cart today and it limited me to one pound. At a little over $70 shipped for a pound I passed because I didn't "need" it. Same pound on gunbroker is WAY more so maybe me being too cheap allowed someone who needed it to pay less than on gunbroker. Ive always had good experiences with Midway too so I can't fault them too much for trying to spread things around.

Write them. Tell them to go to 2 lb. limits or go home.

1 lb. limits is not a help to customers.

If ya go up in the mountains and ya pack in plenty of water, always gonna give one a my spares to someone who running low. Larry probably same kinda guy, doesn't want anybody to run out so, one per customer til times get better, just tuff er out with a daily limit of 1

His logic may be wider avail to more people but that logic is faulty and breaks down w hazmat fees.

He needs to look at splitting the diff between cost per lb. and restriction limits to find a survivable middle ground.

Well let's see here, ya gotta have 2LBS of IMR 4895 so, order 1 today pay Hazmat $15.99. Then tomorrow, order another pound, if Larry still has any, and pay $15.99 Hazmat again. Ya got ur 2LBS of IMR 4895 and now just work about 20 minutes of overtime and the 2nd Hazmat fee is all paid for, pretty simple logic.

Meanwhile I ordered 20lbs (3 different powders) from mid south right before Christmas. Average of 30$/lb 15$ hazmat shipping, no problem at all other than it was all one pound jugs. To hell with midway on supplies, he's consistently higher than most of their places
