I'm researching making a wildcat that's a shortened 300 Norma for a short action. Is there a detachable mag that will accommodate it? I'm not worried about the length, it's the width of the brass that is the concern.

Has anyone altered a magazine to make a fatter cartridge fit?

Thanks for any info.

accurate mag 300 wsm mag is .970 wide. its double stack but wider than the single stack 338 lapua

all I did was bend the feed lips on a 300wm mag to make it work for the 26 nosler case. should be able to do the same for 300 norma case. they are pretty tough it wasn't easy. I used I piece of wood inside mag for support and duckbill vice grips to bend lips.

Sooooo, how did your project work out? I've been thinking around a similar project for some time. How does it shoot and did the mag work out?
