Load work up question

Has anyone taken one piece of brass and loaded it and then uped the charge by 2 tenths and shot it as nd continued the ladder to see if you get a more consistent information always been going to try it then firget to. David
 
Have done this many times testing pressure threshold with many brands of brass, not testing velocity though, as it's meaningless for such tests.
You also only neck size for this test and you go right through to brass failure.
Failure is loose pockets, split necks, excessive expansion line deformation and the start of ejector wipes.
Any of these signs are the brass threshold point, loading higher is just ruining the brass in the long run.

Been there done that.
I know why I did it.

What is your purpose for doing it and to what extent?

Im just wondering if a person would get a more accurate powder node doing it thst way due to inconsistent brass. David

You get far better results with stable brass and proper sizing than with brass that varies in 3 things, internal volume, hardness and ductility.
Annealing, sizing ALL cases the same and keeping neck interference correct is key.

If your brass isn't consistent, it won't matter what your powder is. What you're thinking is good, but it won't matter if you're brass isn't good.

I guess im not saying in a way that is the information i was looking for just wondering how much variance in velocity using the same piece of brass over and over i guess ill have to wear a piece out and try it. David

If your brass isn't consistent, it won't matter what your powder is. What you're thinking is good, but it won't matter if you're brass isn't good.
im just wondering if it might help a little no matter what brass choice for 6 mm Remington are not good i realize brass constancies make or brake you i just didnt know if you actually got consistent velocity with same exact brass never had good brass so that is why the question it gets warmer in my garage ill wear out one piece of brass with the same load and record the variation over several shells. Day
 
To answer your question specifically depends on what you do to the brass after each firing.
If you are just going to size it, load it and shoot it, then the 3 fundamentals I outlined above will cause a difference in that piece of brass each time. If you don't control those things, firstly, the brass will become harder, this resists sizing and causes more springback.
This will continue.
If you don't have consistent brass, you don't have consistent outcomes or anything to assess against.
